VICTORY MASTER was withdrawn on 9.2.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of mucopus in trachea on scoping after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter KYARA. Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NEW DEERFIELD was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was crowded for room between CHEETAH BOY and BULLISH KING which shifted out. At the 400 Metres, ADORATION was steadied when disappointed for running between HAPPY REUNION and REAL SUPREME. An inquiry was opened into the reason for GURUS DREAM falling at the 400 Metres, resulting in Apprentice C Y Ho being dislodged. As Apprentice Ho was unable to give evidence due to having been transported to hospital, the inquiry was adjourned until a date to be fixed. When GURUS DREAM fell, ADORATION, KYARA, EASY WINNER and WINNING EDGE were all severely hampered. After the race, it was noted that there was blood present at the right nostril of GURUS DREAM. The Veterinary Officer reported that an endoscopic examination of GURUS DREAM revealed that the horse’s trachea was clean and therefore was not deemed to be a bleeder. After passing the 400 Metres, FLYING IN was momentarily hampered when crowded for room between BERNARD’S CHOICE and NEW DEERFIELD which shifted out away from the heels of VIVA FREEDOM. Near the 200 Metres, NEW DEERFIELD, which was attempting to establish a run between VIVA FREEDOM and BERNARD’S CHOICE was steadied when disappointed for that run as a result of BERNARD’S CHOICE (K C Leung) shifting in. K C Leung was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course in future. For the majority of the race, REAL SUPREME travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of WINNING EDGE after the race did not show any significant findings. KYARA, FLEET COMMAND and EASY WINNER were sent for sampling. <13/2/2012 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that GURUS DREAM, which fell at the 400 Metres, was lame in the left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, GURUS DREAM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
