BILLION was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, BILLION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SOLAR WONDER, which was leaning against the outside of its stall, was slow to begin and then despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages failed to muster speed. HOW WONDERFUL and HAPPY CHA CHA were slow to begin. Approaching the 600 Metres, JUGGERNAUT and YOUNG HERO raced tight due to YOUNG HERO shifting to the outside of GOLDMEN Y Y. When questioned, Apprentice C Y Ho stated that he had been instructed to obtain a position behind the leaders if possible on VANQUISH DELIGHT. He said he rode his mount along in the early stages so as to take up a forward position, however, when he attempted to steady VANQUISH DELIGHT, the horse commenced to over-race and would not come back underneath him as he expected. He said he continued to try and steady VANQUISH DELIGHT to allow runners to his outside to improve their positions, however, when neither BUMPER STRIKE nor GOLDEN BOY pressed for the lead, VANQUISH DELIGHT, which was continuing to over-race, was left racing in front. He said after this VANQUISH DELIGHT continued to prove difficult to settle and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR WONDER and VANQUISH DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of HOW WONDERFUL after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, HOW WONDERFUL will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY CHA CHA, HEALTHY MANNER and YOUNG HERO were sent for sampling.
