Just prior to the start being effected, SCARLET CAMELLIA became fractious and consequently began awkwardly and lost ground. Before being allowed to race again, SCARLET CAMELLIA will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. VIGOR DELIGHT was slow to begin. Y T Cheng (LUCKY WARRIOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MR BOND, resulting in that horse being taken in across the rightful running of FUN HEROES which as a result was checked. DR WIN, OPEN SESAME and DILIGENT III, which were following, were all hampered in consequence. Y T Cheng was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 29 September 2011 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Wednesday, 21 September 2011. At the 1000 Metres, VIVA FREEDOM got its head up on a number of occasions and proved very difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHAMPAGNE DAYS. Near the 900 Metres, FUN HEROES got its head up and was checked away from the heels of MR BOND and in doing so shifted in, resulting in DR WIN being crowded for room. For the majority of the race, DILIGENT III travelled wide and without cover. Throughout the race, LUCKY WARRIOR travelled wide and without cover. The Veterinary Officer reported that MR BOND was displaying blood at the left nostril after the race. He said an endoscopic examination of the horse did not reveal blood in the trachea and accordingly MR BOND was not deemed to have bled. A veterinary inspection of VIVA FREEDOM after the race did not show any significant findings. SCARLET CAMELLIA, CHAMPAGNE DAYS and LUCKY WARRIOR were sent for sampling.
