After being loaded, ROYAL PUMPKIN became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, ROYAL PUMPKIN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. WIN PRACTITIONER was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, TREASURE GOLD was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 900 Metres, ROYAL PUMPKIN was left racing wide and without cover. In the early part of the Straight, TREASURE GOLD was disappointed for running inside SMART GIANT. Then near the 300 Metres, TREASURE GOLD was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of SMART GIANT which was being shifted out to obtain clear running. SMART GIANT was unable to obtain clear running until approaching the 200 Metres. When questioned, D Whyte stated that after travelling well throughout the race, ADORATION responded well to his riding when placed under pressure after the 400 Metres. He said however that passing the 200 Metres ADORATION came under pressure and its run ended shortly after this. He said although ADORATION was somewhat disappointing over the concluding stages, in his opinion, the horse would benefit from today’s race. A veterinary inspection of ADORATION after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. SMART GIANT and FLYING SUPREME were sent for sampling. <12/9/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that WIN PRACTITIONER was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, WIN PRACTITIONER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
