CHATER MIKADO was withdrawn on 5.7.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore quarter crack) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter EASY WINNER (Apprentice T H So). Before being allowed to race again, CHATER MIKADO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOOD STRIKE shifted out at the start, resulting in BEST FIT making heavy contact with VOILE ROUGE, resulting in B Doyle, its rider, becoming badly unbalanced in the saddle. After the race, B Doyle reported that when VOILE ROUGE was heavily bumped, he sustained an injury to his right foot. B Doyle was examined by the Club’s doctor who said in his opinion B Doyle was not fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagement. BEST WIN was slow to begin. From wide barriers, SUPER HURRICANE and ALGARVE were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After being ridden along in the early stages, BEST WIN got its head up and proved difficult to settle near the 1000 Metres when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER BOY which at this time was being steadied to obtain a position with cover. BEST WIN then shifted out away from the heels of SUPER BOY, resulting in FIRST IN COMMAND being taken wider. After this, FIRST IN COMMAND travelled wide and without cover. FOREVER ELATION, which was following BEST WIN, got its head up and was checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence. ALGARVE, which was following FOREVER ELATION, was also hampered. After this, BEST WIN again got its head up and over-raced for some distance. Near the 200 Metres, GOOD STRIKE shifted out and brushed EASY WINNER which became unbalanced. In the Straight, BEST WIN got its head on the side and hung out. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FIRST IN COMMAND had lost its left front plate. EASY WINNER and BEST FIT were sent for sampling.
