After being loaded, ELUSIVE PRINCE became fractious and lunged at the front gates, resulting in its jaw becoming wedged in between the grates of the front gate. ELUSIVE PRINCE was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ELUSIVE PRINCE. The Stewards ruled that all the horses be removed from the barriers and there was a delay to the start of this race. As this was the second occasion on which ELUSIVE PRINCE had proved very difficult once being placed in the barriers, the Stewards ruled that the horse must undertake a series of satisfactory consecutive official barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination prior to being permitted to race again. NOTUS began awkwardly. FISHKING GLORY was slow to begin and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. Approaching the first turn near the 700 Metres, LUCKY TYCOON commenced to over-race and was steadied away from the heels of WINNING MASCOT. A short distance later, LUCKY TYCOON hung out when it continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING MASCOT, resulting in SOHNA being checked when taken out across the heels of WELL NOTED. For some distance after the 700 Metres, HOME WITH GLORY proved difficult to settle and was restrained away from the heels of VITAL SMART. At the entrance to the Straight, LUCKY TYCOON was shifted out across the heels of WELL NOTED to obtain clear running. Throughout the race, WELL NOTED travelled wide and without cover. DARPANA and QUANTUM EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
