MASTER RIO was crowded for room at the start between FATBOY SUGAR and ELITE SIXTY-SIX which shifted out. CITY POWER was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, AFFLUENCE OF RAIN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Also from a wide barrier, ROYAL DOCTOR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1000 Metres, MY BEST CHOICE proved very difficult to settle and was severely checked away from the heels of FATBOY SUGAR. MY BEST CHOICE continued to over-race for some distance after this. Near the 900 Metres, ROYAL DOCTOR shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of AMBITIOUS TREASURE, resulting in AFFLUENCE OF RAIN being taken wider. ELITE SIXTY-SIX was held up for clear running until passing the 200 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, FULFIL A WISH got its head on the side and shifted out away from FATBOY SUGAR. Then near the 50 Metres, FULFIL A WISH was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of FATBOY SUGAR which shifted out. Throughout the race, FULFIL A WISH travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ELITE SIXTY-SIX had sustained a small cut to the left nostril. FULFIL A WISH, ELITE FORTUNE and FATBOY SUGAR were sent for sampling.
