When being led onto the track, Apprentice C Y Ho was dislodged from CASTLE ROCK. CASTLE ROCK then galloped to the end of the 1800 Metre chute where it was recaptured. To prevent an unnecessary delay to the start of this race, CASTLE ROCK was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. DIAMOND KNIGHT was slow to begin and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between ETERNAL BEAUTY and LITTLE BRIDGE which was taken in by HIGH AIM. TELECOM TOP STAR, which was leaning against the outside of its stall, began awkwardly and shortly after the start shifted out after being bumped by LONGWAH RISING and in doing so made contact with GUNNER MAC which became unbalanced. A veterinary inspection of DANE PATROL after the race did not show any significant findings. LITTLE BRIDGE and DIAMOND KNIGHT were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported TOWKAY FLYER was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. He said TOWKAY FLYER had previously been reported to be a “roarer”.
