UNWRITTEN RULE was withdrawn on 15.2.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice [lame right hind (cannon laceration wound)]. Before being allowed to race again, UNWRITTEN RULE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the time of declarations, Jockey J Victoire, Trainer S Woods’ Stable Retained Jockey, was declared as the rider of FEARLESS, trained by Mr D E Ferraris, whilst Club Jockey O Doleuze was declared as the rider of CHINA DRAGON, trained by Mr Woods. As the regulations stipulate that a retained jockey cannot ride outside of his retaining stable if that stable engages the services of a jockey who is not eligible to claim a weight allowance, the Stewards ruled that as Mr Woods had properly engaged O Doleuze as the rider of CHINA DRAGON, J Victoire would be substituted by J Lloyd as the rider of FEARLESS. For this declaration error, Jockey Victoire was fined a sum of $2,000. STREET CAT stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, STREET CAT will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. After being crossed by CHINA DRAGON, ROYAL PANACHE proved difficult to settle for a number of strides passing the 1400 Metres. Throughout the race, ABOVE ALL travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FAT CHOY ICHIBAN, B Prebble stated that the horse travelled satisfactorily during the race, however, after being shifted out at the top of the Straight to make its finishing run, FAT CHOY ICHIBAN was disappointing and in his opinion raced “flat”. A veterinary inspection of FAT CHOY ICHIBAN after the race did not show any significant findings. BRAVE KID and LITTLE DREAMS were sent for sampling.
