LUCKY AMORE was withdrawn on 26.1.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of mucopus in trachea on scoping). Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY AMORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the start was effected, HANDSOME BATCHELOR lifted its front feet off the ground and was slow to begin. FLYING GALLOP was crowded on jumping between HAPPY REUNION and BEAUTY EXPRESS. From the outside barrier, SOARING RIVER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 900 Metres, FLYING GALLOP (M W Leung) broke down and was retired from the event. As M W Leung was attempting to pull up FLYING GALLOP, the horse blundered, resulting in M W Leung being dislodged passing the 800 Metres. M W Leung was examined by the Club’s doctor who advised that he was not suitable to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. In the Straight, HAPPY REUNION got its head on the side and hung in. A veterinary inspection of FERRO BEAU after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being permitted to race again, FERRO BEAU will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FERRO BEAU, GRAND PROFIT and HAPPY REUNION were sent for sampling.
