Shortly after the start, CARE FREE MIDAS shifted out and bumped BOBO WIN. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KOWLOON PRIDE was steadied away from the heels of SUPREME GOLD which had its head on the side and hung in. Passing the 250 Metres, GIVE WELL became unbalanced when bumped by MIGHTY WINNER which was taken out slightly by JOLLY WONGCHOY. Passing the 150 Metres, BOBO WIN and LUCKY MONEY became unbalanced after bumping due to BOBO WIN shifting out slightly. When questioned, A Suborics stated that he had been instructed to lead on JOLLY WONGCHOY tonight, however, if other runners were intent on going forward, he should take the sit behind the leaders. He said he rode JOLLY WONGCHOY positively in the early stages to take up a forward position, however, a number of runners around him showed superior speed, therefore approaching the winning post on the first occasion he elected to obtain a position with cover rather than continuing to ride his mount along to take up a more forward position. A veterinary inspection of THE WITCH’S BROOM after the race did not show any significant findings. KOWLOON PRIDE, CARE FREE MIDAS and MAINLAND SHUTTLE were sent for sampling.
