OUTTALIMITZ was withdrawn on 25.9.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, OUTTALIMITZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On arrival at the barriers, the bit carried by MY HOME TOWN was adjusted. OURAJA began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, ISLAND SUPER was steadied away from the heels of MI REILLY which shifted in when barely clear. Apprentice K C Leung (MI REILLY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ULTRA FANTASY, resulting in that horse being unnecessarily crowded for room and hampered at that stage. Apprentice Leung was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 12 October 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 4 October 2009. Throughout the race, MY HOME TOWN travelled wide and without cover and near the 300 Metres was checked when momentarily crowded for room inside DEFERENTIAL (B Prebble) which hung in badly. As the Stewards were satisfied B Prebble had made sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in at that time, no further action was taken. After this, MY HOME TOWN was eased out of the race. A veterinary inspection of MY HOME TOWN after the race revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils and had lost both front plates. DEFERENTIAL continued to hang in and approaching the 200 Metres shifted in and hampered GALEN WIN. DEFERENTIAL then continued to hang in for the remainder of the race and as a consequence was unable to be ridden out as it normally would be. B Prebble reported that when DEFERENTIAL hung in, his saddle shifted to the left side. Near the 300 Metres, RIVER JORDAN was steadied when disappointed for running between ULTRA FANTASY and LUCKY AMICI which shifted in when weakening. Near the 150 Metres, GREAT GUY was steadied when disappointed for running between RIVER JORDAN and LUCKY AMICI which shifted in slightly when continuing to give ground. A veterinary inspection of ROCK’N TYPHOON after the race did not show any significant findings. ULTRA FANTASY and DEFERENTIAL were sent for sampling.
