KABAYAN was slow to begin. LITTLE MEN was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was taken across behind runners. HELENE SUPER STAR began awkwardly and lost ground. After the 1200 Metres, KHAYA proved difficult to settle. After the 1000 Metres, HO IN ONE was left racing wide and without cover. Making the turn after the 900 Metres, KABAYAN got its head up when proving difficult to settle and being checked away from the heels of HELENE SUPER STAR. CRAZY BUDDIES, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence. ROYAL PARTNER got its head on the side and lay out rounding the Home Turn when racing tight outside FAT CHOY HONG KONG which shifted out. Near the 250 Metres, KHAYA shifted out and brushed PACKING LLAREGYB. Then at the 200 Metres, PACKING LLAREGYB shifted in slightly and in doing so made contact with KHAYA, causing both horses to become momentarily unbalanced. After this, KHAYA and PACKING LLAREGYB raced tight and near the 100 Metres KHAYA shifted out and bumped PACKING LLAREGYB. H Bowman, the rider of the 7th placed, HO IN ONE, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out all the way to the end of the race where circumstances permit. After the race, O Doleuze stated that LITTLE MEN did not feel comfortable in its action at any stage of the race. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE MEN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea. TRAVEL BROTHER, PACKING LLAREGYB and KHAYA were sent for sampling.
