NOBODY BUT YOU was crowded for room at the start between THE PRINCE and BROTHERS IN ARMS which got its head on the side and shifted out. HEARTS KEEPER was slow to begin and then, despite being vigorously ridden along in the early stages, failed to muster speed. Passing the 900 Metres, LUCKY TYCOON was steadied away from the heels of COUNTRY CHARM which shifted in momentarily. Near the 300 Metres, ELEPHANT MAGIC became unbalanced and shifted in towards the running rail of its own accord. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CITY DELIGHT, D Whyte stated that he had ridden the horse in the final gallop in the lead up to tonight’s race and, in his opinion, that work had been good, however, CITY DELIGHT usually works well in the mornings. He said after shifting out and making contact with LOADS OF JOY at the start, CITY DELIGHT, despite being vigorously ridden along throughout the early and middle stages, failed to muster speed and did not stretch out comfortably at any stage. He said he placed the horse under pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight, however, CITY DELIGHT did not respond to his riding at any stage and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of CITY DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of ELEPHANT MAGIC and SICHUAN EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. CITY DELIGHT, LOADS OF JOY and HEARTS KEEPER were sent for sampling.
