COMMON GOAL began awkwardly and shifted out towards the heels of BEST NOODLE. As a consequence, COMMON GOAL lost ground. WINNING MASCOT was crowded for room at the start by ROMANCING TAMAR which shifted out. LIFE OF BEAUTY was crowded for room at the start between WONDERLAND and THEHEROINMYHEART, both of which shifted ground. Apprentice K C Ng (WINNING MASCOT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ETERNAL FAME, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled and COMMON GOAL, which was racing to the inside of ETERNAL FAME, to be hampered. Apprentice Ng was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 5 July 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the conclusion of the suspension that he incurred in Race 2 to commence on Monday, 18 June 2012. After the 1000 Metres, WONDERLAND proved very difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PAPAS and then near the 850 Metres was checked away from the heels of PAPAS. After this, WONDERLAND continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of PAPAS when racing keenly. Approaching the 800 Metres, WINNING MASCOT was checked away from the heels of THEHEROINMYHEART which itself was racing close to the heels of MAELSTROM when over-racing. BEST NOODLE, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Passing the 800 Metres, LIFE OF BEAUTY was steadied away from the heels of WONDERLAND which was continuing to prove difficult to settle and shifted out, resulting in WINNING MASCOT being crowded for inside ROMANCING TAMAR. Near the 150 Metres, SPICY SIAM was shifted in away from the heels of PAPAS which shifted in. After the race, W C Marwing (THEHEROINMYHEART) reported that although the saddle shifted back marginally after the 600 Metres, this did not affect his riding out of the horse in the Straight to any great degree. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ALL DELIGHT had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of THEHEROINMYHEART, JOLLY GOOD CHAMP and PAPAS after the race did not show any significant findings. COMMON GOAL and MAELSTROM were sent for sampling.
