As the start was effected, LEGEND EXPRESS reared and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, LEGEND EXPRESS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. TOWERING STORM was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CHAMPAGNE DAYS raced tight between THE UNTOUCHABLELAD which shifted in and FLYING IN which shifted out after being bumped on the hindquarters by CHAMPAGNE DAYS. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHAMPAGNE DAYS raced in restricted room between THE UNTOUCHABLELAD and SUPREME FLIGHT which shifted out slightly. Passing the 1600 Metres, HAPPY AMBASSADOR shifted out and bumped SUNRISE. Passing the 1100 Metres, CHAMPAGNE DAYS got its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of THE UNTOUCHABLELAD. NORDIC STAR hung out rounding the Home Turn. Near the 250 Metres, FLYING IN was shifted out after being disappointed for running inside SUPREME FLIGHT. Approaching the 200 Metres, TOWERING STORM was shifted in away from the heels of THE UNTOUCHABLELAD which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly when giving ground. For some distance after this, TOWERING STORM raced tight outside FLYING IN which was shifted out to obtain clear running. Then close to the finishing line, TOWERING STORM was steadied away from the heels of FLYING IN which was taken out by LUCKY WARRIOR (D Whyte). D Whyte was reprimanded advised to exercise care. Because of this, TOWERING STORM was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Over the concluding stages, FLYING IN then raced tight between LUCKY WARRIOR and SUNRISE which was racing tight inside YUE LU TREASURE. For the majority of the race, SUNRISE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, T Clark stated that he had been instructed to obtain a position in about 5th or 6th placing behind the speed if possible. He said Mr J Size, the trainer of RIGHT TIMING, did not want the horse to be ridden along in the early stages to take up a forward position as it was felt that it may not finish off its race if it had to be ridden along to obtain this position. He said accordingly in the early stages he allowed RIGHT TIMING to stride forward without riding it along to see if it would be able to obtain a position behind the speed as instructed. He said however that shortly after the start there were a considerable number of horses to his inside and he felt that to have cleared those horses, he would have had to make use of RIGHT TIMING which would have resulted in the horse being ridden towards the lead which would have been contrary to his instructions. He said for this reason, prior to the winning post on the first occasion, he elected to steady RIGHT TIMING and shift across behind runners albeit that it was further back in the field than had been intended. He said although RIGHT TIMING was able to obtain cover, the horse was required to race in a three wide position. He added that he placed RIGHT TIMING under pressure near the 500 Metres, however, the horse did not quicken and in the Straight was disappointing. He said although the circumstances of the race did not suit RIGHT TIMING, the horse nonetheless did not finish off the race as had been expected. A veterinary inspection of THE UNTOUCHABLELAD and RIGHT TIMING after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, HAPPY AMBASSADOR was found to have sustained a cut to the right front fetlock. SUNRISE, LUCKY WARRIOR and YUE LU TREASURE were sent for sampling. <15/3/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> The Clinical Veterinary Surgeon reported that LUCKY WARRIOR was lame in the left front leg on the day after racing. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
