HAPPY TUMBLER was withdrawn on 10.12.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter HOT SHOT (M Du Plessis). Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY TUMBLER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KYARA knuckled over at the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, LIBERATOR failed to muster speed and consequently raced back in the field. For some distance after the 1000 Metres and again near the 700 Metres, EASY WINNER was checked away from the heels of BEST CITY. Near the 500 Metres, BEST CITY shifted out slightly when being steadied away from the heels of FAY FAY, resulting in HORACE’S EMPIRE being crowded for room inside RICH TAPESTRY. EASY WINNER, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of BEST CITY in consequence. Also in this incident, NEW GREENFIELD was steadied away from the heels of HORACE’S EMPIRE. Rounding the Home Turn, KYARA was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PACKING TYCOON. A short distance later, when attempting to improve, KYARA was checked when tightened for room between PACKING TYCOON and BEST CITY, both of which shifted marginally. In this incident, KYARA got its head on the side and was inclined to lay in across the heels of PACKING TYCOON. As the Stewards were of the opinion that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken. Throughout the race, KING OF REASON and RICH TAPESTRY travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SEMOS and LIBERATOR after the race did not show any significant findings. FAY FAY and DRAGON FIGHTER were sent for sampling.
