BEAUTY SUCCESS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CHARMGOLD, resulting in BEAUTY SUCCESS becoming unbalanced. PEGASUS SUPREME shifted out at the start and bumped WEALTH PARK. After the 1100 Metres, HO HO LIFE was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 400 Metres, BEAUTY SUCCESS was steadied when crowded for room between HO HO LIFE and VICTORY IDE SAY which shifted out. After this, BEAUTY SUCCESS had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance. Over the concluding stages, BURGUNDY MAC was steadied when disappointed for running between AMITYSHIP (C K Tong) and CARTHAGE (K C Leung), both of which shifted slight ground. Because of this, BURGUNDY MAC was not able to be ridden out to the end of the race as it otherwise would be. Both C K Tong and K C Leung were advised to exercise care in similar circumstances in future. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SHIFACHI TRADITION, D Whyte stated that as the start was effected his mount was very slow to begin and consequently lost a considerable amount of ground. He said he then rode SHIFACHI TRADITION along to make up lost ground, however, the horse was reluctant to stretch out for some distance in the early stages. He said SHIFACHI TRADITION commenced to travel more kindly passing the 1000 Metres, however, then came off the bridle again at the 500 Metres and after this point, despite being ridden along, did not finish off the race. Before being allowed to race again, SHIFACHI TRADITION will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. A veterinary inspection of SHIFACHI TRADITION after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had spread its right hind plate. SHIFACHI TRADITION, CARTHAGE and WEALTH PARK were sent for sampling.
