EASY WINNER was withdrawn on 15.1.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, EASY WINNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAJESTIC HEART began awkwardly and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. From the outside barrier, QUELLE SURPRISE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early and middle stages, WEI HAI INVINCIBLE proved very difficult to settle. Passing the 800 Metres, ENRICHED was checked away from the heels of KA KA’S PROSPERITY. FLYING CHINA, which was following, was checked in consequence and shifted out, resulting in QUELLE SURPRISE being bumped and taken wider. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ENRICHED, D Whyte stated that he had intended to obtain a position behind the leaders if possible. He said however that KA KA’S PROSPERITY maintained its position to the inside of ENRICHED and rather than ride ENRICHED along to cross that horse, he felt it was in the horse’s best interests to steady and obtain cover behind that runner. He said although ENRICHED got its head up on a number of occasions when being steadied passing the 1200 Metres, he was able to obtain cover behind KA KA’S PROSPERITY passing the 1000 Metres. He said although ENRICHED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse passing the 800 Metres, ENRICHED travelled satisfactorily until entering the Straight. He said he placed ENRICHED under pressure rounding the Home Turn, it failed to pick up and although ENRICHED maintained its position, the horse was disappointing in that it did not lengthen stride impressively as it did at its most recent start. A veterinary inspection of ENRICHED after the race did not reveal any significant findings other than the horse had an intermittent displacement of the soft palate. A veterinary inspection of QUELLE SURPRISE after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of SUNRISE after the race did not show any significant findings. ENRICHED, SUPER CARDED and PENGLAI XIANZI were sent for sampling.
