S de Sousa (JADE FORTUNE) was fined $2,000 for failing to present himself in the Parade Ring by the required time. CHAMPION SUPREME was slow to begin. WORLD FAMOUS and VINCY bumped at the start. From wide barriers, LONDON HALL and GO BALLISTIC were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After travelling a short distance, C Lemaire (MONGOLIAN KING) adjusted his left foot in the stirrup iron. Near the 1500 Metres, RULE THEE was momentarily eased away from the heels of I DO which shifted in. Near the 900 Metres, LONDON HALL was taken wider and without cover as MONGOLIAN KING shifted out from behind SPLENDOUR AND GOLD to follow GO BALLISTIC. VINCY was held up for a run in the early part of the Straight and after being shifted in a number of horses passing the 300 Metres again had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance after the 200 Metres. Passing the 300 Metres, CHAMPION SUPREME brushed the hindquarters of SPLENDOUR AND GOLD when disappointed for running between that horse and HOME WIN. He said he had noted that in its previous races HAPPY SEBRING had quickened very well when placed under pressure in the Straight, however, today the horse did not show any turn of foot despite being hard ridden. He added HAPPY SEBRING did not close off the race and finished at the rear of the field without ever improving its position. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY SEBRING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HAPPY SEBRING, which finished last, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY SEBRING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned regarding the performance of I DO, Z Purton stated that after being ridden along in the early stage to obtain a forward position, he was happy with the manner in which I DO travelled in the early and middle stages. He said I DO continued to travel well into the Straight, however, after being placed under pressure after the 400 Metres did not quicken as it had in the past and then commenced to give ground after the 200 Metres. He added over the concluding stages I DO finished off the race only one-paced and, in his opinion, I DO’s performance in today’s race could be attributed to the fact that it had not started since 1 October 2019 after being withdrawn from an intended race due to a blood abnormality. He said he expected I DO would improve for the run. A veterinary inspection of I DO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of CHAMPION SUPREME immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. CHAMPION SUPREME, EASY GO EASY WIN and WORLD FAMOUS were sent for sampling.
