LUCKY FRUIT was withdrawn on 10.2.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY FRUIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the early stages, FEEL-SO-GOOD and SUPER FIGHTER were taken back. Commencing to make the turn at the 1000 Metres, ENCOSTA DON was momentarily crowded for room inside FOREST STAR which got its head on the side and shifted in. O Doleuze (MARVELLOUS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that making the turn at the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in, causing WILD ACE to be carried in which in turn caused crowding on its inside to FOREST STAR which as a result was carried across the rightful running of ENCOSTA DON which was checked. O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 2 March 2009 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 22 February 2009. In addition, O Doleuze was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. After entering the Back Straight, WILD ACE was carried out by FOREST STAR, which was shifted wider to relieve the crowding it was applying to ENCOSTA DON, struck the heels of MARVELLOUS, became unbalanced and lost ground. At the 200 Metres, WILD ACE was steadied when awkwardly placed between FEEL-SO-GOOD and SUPER FIGHTER, both of which shifted ground. After the 200 Metres, MARVELLOUS was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of ANIMATION. Throughout the race, ANIMATION travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight hung in. ENCOSTA DON was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of ENCOSTA DON after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER PLUS and SUPER CHARGE were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that FOREST STAR had lost its right hind plate.
