YOUNG LABEL was withdrawn on 25.11.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MY TIME. Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG LABEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SOUTH DAKOTA began awkwardly and lost ground. From the outside barrier, CHATER POWER was taken back in the early stages. Approaching the 500 Metres, SUPER SNIPPETS, which was endeavouring to improve into a narrow run which presented itself momentarily between BRILLIANT ONE and FLYING GALLOP was checked when crowded for room by FLYING GALLOP which was making the turn awkwardly, initially shifted out slightly, then shifted back in slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Prior to straightening, FLYING GALLOP was steadied when held up and unable to improve. Also prior to straightening, TIGER RIDGE was steadied away from the heels of WIN A DOZEN. For a considerable distance approaching the 200 Metres, BRILLIANT ONE had difficulty obtaining clear running. Over the final 200 Metres, FLYING GALLOP raced in restricted room between VALUE CHOICE and SUPER SNIPPETS which was inclined to lay in. Over about the final 50 Metres, FLY HIGH was steadied when unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not fully tested. Just prior to the winning post, WIN A DOZEN was steadied away from the heels of TIGER RIDGE. Because of this, WIN A DOZEN was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Throughout the race, MY TIME travelled wide and without cover. OCEAN WIDE and CHATER POWER were sent for sampling.
