While being transported to Happy Valley, NILOMETER sustained an abrasion to its left shoulder. NILOMETER was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. TIME SUPREME was slow to begin. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, DISGUISE failed to muster speed. At the 900 Metres, DISGUISE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of YOUNG HERO which was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of MELLIFLUOUS which had its head on the side and shifted in slightly. Also at the 900 Metres, TOWERING FEELING was steadied away from the heels of FAT DRAGON. In the early part of the Straight, DISGUISE, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied away from the heels of YOUNG HERO. Approaching the winning post, DISGUISE and FAT DRAGON raced tight and on the winning post bumped. Just prior to the line, YANKEE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MELLIFLUOUS which was shifting out slightly. Because of this, YANKEE was not ridden right out to the end of the race as it normally would be. Throughout the race, FAT DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. ELFHELM was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ELFHELM after the race did not show any significant findings. YANKEE, TIME SUPREME and MELLIFLUOUS were sent for sampling.
