DORDENMA bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, MELLIFLUOUS and DORDENMA, which had been ridden along to make up ground, were momentarily crowded for room inside SOUNDS BEST which was carried in slightly by FAT DRAGON which initially shifted in and then was shifted out to relieve pressure. In this incident, SOUNDS BEST was restrained to relieve pressure to runners on its inside. After this, runners continued to improve on the inside of SOUNDS BEST which as a result was taken back in the field to obtain a position with cover. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, NILOMETER failed to muster speed and then for the major part of the race travelled wide and without cover and hung in. After the race, Y T Cheng (NILOMETER) reported the action of the horse when under pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight was of concern to him, therefore he eased his mount down over the concluding stages. NILOMETER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NILOMETER after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, NILOMETER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAMOUS DANCER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FAMOUS DANCER after the race did not show any significant findings. MELLIFLUOUS, GALLANT LION and MAVERICK STAR were sent for sampling.
