With the intention of being ridden quietly, CIRCULAR MACHINE was taken across behind runners in the early stages. On jumping, from the outside barrier, BEAR MACHO got its head up when being steadied to be taken across behind runners. In the early and middle stages, JIANG JUN hung out. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, BEAUTIFUL DREAMER was checked severely when crowded for room between LUCKY WINNER and BLUE GENES which shifted out when being checked away from the heels of TIGER PRAWN which became unbalanced when bumped by CONESTOGA which got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of DIM SUM. At the same time, SANZIRO was steadied away from the heels of HONGKONG SUPERSTAR which was steadied away from the heels of CONESTOGA. LUCKY WINNER made the turn at the 1000 Metres awkwardly and shifted wider, then travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, SANZIRO was steadied away from the heels of HONGKONG SUPERSTAR which became unbalanced and lost ground after bumping with BLUE GENES. In the Home Straight, EASY hung in. G Mossé (CONESTOGA) reported his horse over-raced for the first 500 Metres of the race. He said it appeared to him that CONESTOGA had its tongue over the bit and because of this the horse was difficult to settle. He said consequently CONESTOGA did not finish the race off. G Boss (BLUE GENES) said his mount commenced to over-race approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres and because of this was awkwardly placed on the heels of TIGER PRAWN and was checked He said after this BLUE GENES travelled only fairly and was disappointing in the manner in which it closed the race off. He said on pulling up while BLUE GENES was not lame, it did not appear free in its action. CONESTOGA and BLUE GENES were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CONESTOGA and BLUE GENES after the race did not show any significant findings. TIGER PRAWN, SANZIRO and DIM SUM were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported TIGER PRAWN had spread its right front plate.
