KING OF SPADES was slow to begin, then in the early stages despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. On jumping, SILVER WRAITH stumbled. On straightening COP HILL LAD was carried wider by SILVER WRAITH which shifted into clear running. From the 400 Metres until after the 300 Metres, FRAMES DEPOT was held up and unable to obtain clear running. S Dye (AMBITION) said the intention in recent times has been to have the horse ridden in a forward position as it is somewhat one-paced. He said at its first start this season AMBITION was slow to begin and then because of the pace of the travelled near the rear. He said today AMBITION began well from the outside barrier, he rode it along for a short distance, then AMBITION over-raced and would not relax. He said as a consequence AMBITION travelled with the leaders, but then tired over the concluding stages. He added the manner in which AMBITION which on occasions was slow to begin is ridden will depend on how it leaves the barriers. LIGHTNING MOUNT and OH GREAT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, LIGHTNING MOUNT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, LIGHTNING MOUNT will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of OH GREAT after the race did not show any significant findings. KING OF SPADES and AMBITION were sent for sampling.
