RAINBOW OASIS bounded in the air at the start. FLY ME TO THE MOON began awkwardly. In the early stages, CARRY GOOD NEWS was taken back to a rearward position. ISLAND SUPER made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly and became unbalanced. At the 700 Metres, BOOMING CITY became unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside STILTON. At the 400 Metres, BOOMING CITY was steadied and shifted to the inside of SUPER BABY to obtain clear running. Just prior to the winning post, SURE JOY was struck over the nose by the whip of O Doleuze (PICKETT). G Boss (CARRY GOOD NEWS) explained he had ridden his mount for the majority of the race in an endeavour to stay in touch. He said in the Straight he rode his mount out hands and heels as in his opinion the horse was performing to its top. He said CARRY GOOD NEWS did not quicken when asked for an effort and because of this he only used the whip on one occasion on the horse. STILTON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STILTON after the race did not show any significant findings. ISLAND SUPER, BOOMING CITY and PICKETT were sent for sampling.
