DUKE WAI shifted out at the start and bumped HEALTHY HAPPY. WILL POWER also shifted out on jumping and bumped CHEERFUL DAYS, causing both horses to become unbalanced. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, MIGHTY GIANT failed to show early speed. After the 1000 Metres, DUKE WAI was awkwardly placed behind CALIFORNIA SPANGLE. After the race, it was noted that WILL POWER was making an abnormal breathing noise during the race and a subsequent endoscopic examination found that horse to be a "roarer”. CALIFORNIA SPANGLE and HEALTHY HAPPY were sent for sampling.
