YOUNG PASSION began only fairly and then was inconvenienced by LIFELINE VISION which shifted out on jumping.
SALUTATION and PRIDE OF DRAGON bumped at the start. PRIDE OF DRAGON was then momentarily crowded for room between SALUTATION which was racing tight outside LADY FIRST and FREE FOAL which shifted in marginally.
LOVE ME MORE was crowded for room on jumping between SUPER WIN DRAGON and MOERAKI which shifted out abruptly. After this, from the outside barriers, LOVE ME MORE and SUPER WIN DRAGON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1000 Metres, PRIDE OF DRAGON and FREE FOAL bumped.
Near the 650 Metres, SALUTATION was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRIDE OF DRAGON.
Approaching the 600 Metres, NOBLE BOYZ and SUPER WIN DRAGON bumped when racing tight.
NOBLE BOYZ was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Near the 350 Metres, SALUTATION was steadied away from the heels of MOERAKI (B Shinn) when attempting to improve between that horse which shifted in and PRIDE OF DRAGON. B Shinn was reprimanded. SALUTATION was then steadied away from the heels of MOERAKI passing the 300 Metres.
SALUTATION lay out under pressure after the 200 Metres and raced tight inside FREE FOAL approaching the 100 Metres.
Near the 75 Metres, LOVE ME MORE was awkwardly placed behind FREE FOAL. Then close to the finishing line, LOVE ME MORE again raced close to the heels of FREE FOAL and because of this was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
After the race, M F Poon stated that after being ridden in a more forward position than last start, LADY FIRST did not finish the race off as well as it did on that occasion. A veterinary inspection of LADY FIRST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, A Badel stated that although SUPER WIN DRAGON travelled wide and without cover throughout the race, he felt that the horse raced disappointingly today as SUPER WIN DRAGON did not travel strongly at any stage. A veterinary inspection of SUPER WIN DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Following the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that YOUNG PASSION had blood at the right nostril. An endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to have bled.
A veterinary inspection of PRIDE OF DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FREE FOAL, MILLENNIUM FALCON and LIFELINE VISION were sent for sampling.
