CALIFORNIA LEGEND shifted in at the start and hampered YOU HAVE MY WORD. DIONYSUS COLLIN and PRETTY BAUHINIA (H N Wong) were badly crowded for room on jumping between TANGMERE and CHEERFUL STAR which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly. After this, TANGMERE was steadied to obtain cover. After the race, H N Wong stated that after being crowded for room, PRETTY BAUHINIA was reluctant to stretch out despite being vigorously ridden along and it was not until after the 800 Metres that PRETTY BAUHINIA was able to obtain a position closer to the main body of the field. From the outside barrier, DYNASTA was steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. When being steadied outside CALIFORNIA LEGEND after the 1400 Metres, GALA NIGHT initially proved very difficult to settle and got its head up until being shifted in behind CALIFORNIA LEGEND near the 1200 Metres. Approaching the 400 Metres, KING’S MAN was crowded for room inside ACCLAIMED LIGHT which, after improving to the inside of GOOD DAYS, raced tight inside that horse which shifted in marginally after coming under pressure. Approaching the 100 Metres, ACCLAIMED LIGHT was directed to the inside of CALIFORNIA LEGEND in an attempt to obtain clear running inside that horse. Near the 100 Metres, CHEERFUL STAR was bumped by ACCLAIMED LIGHT which shifted in when disappointed for running inside CALIFORNIA LEGEND which shifted in. ACCLAIMED LIGHT was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of CALIFORNIA LEGEND until near the 75 Metres. Close to the finishing line, ACCLAIMED LIGHT raced tight inside GALA NIGHT. A veterinary inspection of KING’S MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA LEGEND and DIONYSUS COLLIN were sent for sampling.
