SPLIT OF A SECOND began awkwardly. From wide barriers, HAPPY WIN WIN and BRAVERY AND POWER were steadied to obtain cover. After being shifted across behind MR GENUINE shortly after the start, DIAMOND RHYME gave ground despite being ridden along and consequently raced back in the field. Making the first turn near the 1050 Metres, JENERATOR became unbalanced of its own accord when being steadied to obtain cover. Then near the 900 Metres, JENERATOR again became badly unbalanced of its own accord. Also near the 1050 Metres, MR GENUINE momentarily raced in restricted room inside RED DESERT. After the 900 Metres, SPLIT OF A SECOND raced tight inside CASA DE FORCA which shifted in before being directed out to relieve the tightening to SPLIT OF A SECOND. After this, CASA DE FORCA travelled wide and without cover. Making the turn after the 600 Metres and in the Straight, BRAVERY AND POWER hung out and proved difficult to ride. Before being allowed to race again, BRAVERY AND POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial around a bend. At the 275 Metres, M F Poon (SPLIT OF A SECOND) momentarily dropped his left rein. Approaching the 250 Metres, HAPPY WIN WIN and WECARE N PROSPER raced tight. After the race, K C Leung stated that LADY FIRST was one-paced in tonight’s race and believed that the horse would be better suited by a step-up in distance in its future races. A veterinary inspection of LADY FIRST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of RED DESERT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PLANET STAR and FAT TURTLE were sent for sampling.
