TORNADO TWIST was slow to begin. AMBITIOUS HEART became fractious just prior to the start being effected, then began only fairly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of STARLIGHT which became unbalanced. STARLIGHT then shifted in, resulting in AMBITIOUS HEART racing tight inside STARLIGHT. CALIFORNIA ARCHER was crowded for room on jumping between FLAT HEAVEN which began awkwardly and SUMSTREETSUMWHERE which shifted in abruptly. This resulted in CALIFORNIA ARCHER making heavy contact with FLAT HEAVEN, resulting in its rider, M Chadwick, becoming badly unbalanced and losing the use of his right stirrup iron for a short distance. From a wide barrier, HARRIER JET was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, FLAT HEAVEN momentarily raced in restricted room inside STARLIGHT which got its head on the side and lay in. Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, CALIFORNIA ARCHER and VICTORY MACHINE were left racing wide and without cover, resulting in both horses being ridden along to obtain a more forward position after the 800 Metres. CALIFORNIA ARCHER continued to race wide and without cover throughout. SUMSTREETSUMWHERE made the Home Turn awkwardly. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA ARCHER and HIGH FIVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MUSIC ADDITION and HANDSOME BO BO were sent for sampling.
