CAO CAO was withdrawn on 21.1.19 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left front fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BLOCKER DEE. Before being allowed to race again, CAO CAO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being placed in the barriers, HAPPY TIME became very fractious and reared, resulting in its rider, D Whyte, striking the overhead structure. HAPPY TIME was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. D Whyte was examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his race riding engagement. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY TIME will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. When HAPPY TIME was being examined, CALLING THE SHOTS became fractious, got its head down and momentarily under the adjoining partition. From the outside barrier, CALLING THE SHOTS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Also from a wide barrier, SIR REDALOT was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Despite being ridden along, BEAUTY LOYAL failed to muster speed and shortly after the start was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. After the 1000 Metres, HAPPY TIME was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KA YING LEGEND when being shifted in behind that horse to obtain cover. After the 900 Metres, MEGA HEART commenced to travel very keenly and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of HAPPY TIME. Near the 750 Metres, MEGA HEART shifted back in behind HAPPY TIME, resulting in BIG BANG BONG momentarily racing tight outside BREEDERS’ STAR. In the Straight, MEGA HEART lay in under pressure. M F Poon (BEAUTY LOYAL) was spoken to regarding the unnecessary use of the whip on a horse out of contention. M F Poon was placed on notice that should he offend again in the near future, further action may be taken. A veterinary inspection of MR PICASSO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MUSIC ADDITION and KA YING LEGEND were sent for sampling.
