ROMANTIC JOURNEY began awkwardly.
FULL OF CHANCES began only fairly and then was bumped by THE SYLPH which shifted out. FULL OF CHANCES consequently bumped heavily with GOOD DAYS which became unbalanced. GOOD DAYS then raced tight between FULL OF CHANCES and INDIGENOUS STAR which shifted in.
When being steadied to obtain cover approaching and passing the 1600 Metres, THE SYLPH got its head up for some distance.
GARLIC YEAH and ENJOYABLE SUCCESS were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
After the 1300 Metres, BULLISH GLORY was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that BULLISH GLORY was lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, BULLISH GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Approaching the 600 Metres, FULL OF CHANCES was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN KID.
Rounding the Home Turn, FULL OF CHANCES was steadied away from the heels of BULLISH GLORY. FULL OF CHANCES was then held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
GOOD DAYS was badly held up for clear running from on straightening until approaching the 200 Metres.
Near the 250 Metres, FULL OF CHANCES was bumped by RED ELYSEES (M L Yeung) which shifted in. M L Yeung was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Both Apprentice C Wong (PLAY IT) and G van Niekerk (THE SYLPH) were warned against the practice of using the whip on a horse out of contention.
A veterinary inspection of PLAY IT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
FULL OF CHANCES and RED ELYSEES were sent for sampling.
