NEW ELEGANCE began only fairly. After the 1100 Metres, FEARLESS FIRE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of UNICRON JEWELLERY. Passing the 600 Metres, UNICRON JEWELLERY shifted out abruptly away from the heels of LADY FIRST which also shifted out after being awkwardly placed behind WINWIN RUBY. Passing the 400 Metres, FEARLESS FIRE raced tight inside GOLD LAND. Apprentice H T Mo (CHIMBORAA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the entrance to the Straight he directed his mount out when not clear of NEW ELEGANCE, resulting in that horse being severely checked when crowded for room inside WINWIN RUBY. Apprentice Mo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 14 March 2018 and to expire on Monday, 19 March 2018 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Apprentice Mo was fined $35,000. Passing the 300 Metres, the whip of K Teetan (AMAZING AGILITY) became entangled in his reins. Passing the 200 Metres, LADY FIRST raced tight between AGREE and UNICRON JEWELLERY which lay in. LADY FIRST then continued to race tight between UNICRON JEWELLERY and AGREE which shifted out marginally under pressure. A veterinary inspection of NEW ELEGANCE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of RAZOR QUEST immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LADY FIRST, SUPER FORM and UNICRON JEWELLERY were sent for sampling. <26/2/2018 Additional Veterinary Report>NEW ELEGANCE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. NEW ELEGANCE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer F C Lor this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, NEW ELEGANCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
