TREASURE AND GOLD lifted its front feet off the ground as the start was effected and consequently began only fairly. DON WONGCHOY and REGENCY HONEY bumped at the start. DON WONGCHOY then shifted in, resulting in CARRY TO WIN being crowded for room. RICHCITY FORTUNE, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, GLORY HORSIE was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover approaching the 1000 Metres, BLISS CARTEL shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of CATCHMEIFYOUCAN. CHEERS CONQUEROR, which was following BLISS CARTEL, commenced to travel keenly and shifted out away from the heels of that horse, resulting in LAUGHING LORD being taken out onto FIVE STARS AGENT which became unbalanced. After this, CHEERS CONQUEROR continued to travel keenly. Making the turn approaching the 900 Metres, CARRY TO WIN and DON WONGCHOY raced tight inside BLISS CARTEL. Passing the 800 Metres, DON WONGCHOY commenced to prove very difficult to settle and, despite the efforts of its rider, shifted out away from the heels of CATCHMEIFYOUCAN. This resulted in BLISS CARTEL being crowded for room between DON WONGCHOY and LAUGHING LORD and losing ground approaching the 700 Metres. After the 500 Metres, CHEERS CONQUEROR was shifted out in an attempt to improve to the outside of CARRY TO WIN. Then at the entrance to the Straight, CHEERS CONQUEROR was steadied away from the heels of CARRY TO WIN when disappointed for running between that horse which shifted out and DON WONGCHOY. TREASURE AND GOLD was unable to obtain clear running from on straightening until approaching the 200 Metres. Near the 150 Metres, K C Leung (CARRY TO WIN) momentarily dropped his right rein. Throughout the race, LAUGHING LORD travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LAUGHING LORD had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of RICHCITY FORTUNE and CHEERS CONQUEROR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of RUMINARE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, RUMINARE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. REGENCY HONEY and TREASURE AND GOLD were sent for sampling.
