SUPER TURBO was withdrawn on 24.11.16 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPEEDY LONGWAH. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER TURBO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PIKACHU began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of FLYING MOOCHI, resulting in PIKACHU losing ground. TURF SPRINT shifted out at the start and bumped MIGHTY MAVERICK. Apprentice H T Mo (FLYING MOOCHI) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUPER LEADER, causing that horse to be taken in onto TURF SPRINT which resulted in that horse losing its rightful running and being checked. Apprentice Mo was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 17 December 2016 and to expire on Wednesday, 28 December 2016 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). During this period, there are two racemeetings scheduled to be conducted at Sha Tin Racecourse. After the 900 Metres, MIDNIGHT RATTLER was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 800 Metres, UNIVERSAL UNION was checked away from the heels of ULTIMATE GLORY. SUPER LEADER lost its left front plate after the 700 Metres. For some distance passing the 350 Metres, JOLLY JOLLY attempted to improve inside the heels of FLYING MOOCHI where there was insufficient room. Then near the 300 Metres, JOLLY JOLLY was steadied after being disappointed for running inside FLYING MOOCHI. FLYING MOOCHI lost its right hind plate at the 300 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, SICHUAN DAR was shifted to the outside of BABA MAMA to improve. SICHUAN DAR then momentarily raced in restricted room between ULTIMATE GLORY and BABA MAMA. A veterinary inspection of SPEEDY LONGWAH immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination also showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPEEDY LONGWAH will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.. A veterinary inspection of JOLLY JOLLY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. BABA MAMA, JOLLY BANNER and MIGHTY MAVERICK were sent for sampling.
