THE FULL BLOOM began awkwardly, bumped the hindquarters of OCTAL LUCK and lost ground at the start. TRENDIFUL jumped in at the start and made contact with PROMPT EXPRESS. From wide barriers, OCTAL LUCK and NASHASHUK were shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. After the 700 Metres, TRENDIFUL was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 600 Metres, NASHASHUK got its head up and became awkwardly placed when racing tight between C P POWER and FUNNY BUDDIES. After the 250 Metres, THE FULL BLOOM was shifted to the outside of the heels of FUNNY BUDDIES which shifted in under pressure. Passing the 200 Metres, O Bosson (LUCKY SEVEN) had his whip knocked from his grasp by the whip of Apprentice H N Wong (RUGBY DIAMOND). Over the final 100 Metres, FUNNY BUDDIES was inclined to lay in under pressure. After leaving the 100 Metres, PROMPT EXPRESS was accidentally struck across the nose by the whip of K C Leung (LYRIC ACE). When questioned, S Clipperton stated that PEACE COMBINATION was ridden forward in accordance with its normal racing pattern, however, had difficulty going with the early pace and as a consequence he was unable to prevent LUCKY SEVEN from crossing PEACE COMBINATION near the 600 Metres. He said once crossed by LUCKY SEVEN, PEACE COMBINATION travelled satisfactorily, however, came under pressure well before the Home Turn and then proved very disappointing with its finishing effort. A veterinary inspection of PEACE COMBINATION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
