HOME WITH GLORY began awkwardly and had to be ridden along for some distance after the start to obtain a forward position. HOLIDAY SUN began awkwardly. From the outside barriers, GALAXY PRANCER and GREEN MANNER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 700 Metres, GREEN MANNER commenced to race keenly and was shifted out when being checked away from the heels of CLASSIC JEWELLERY. CLASSIC JEWELLERY was badly held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 300 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of MIGHTY HIGH which was giving ground. Near the 150 Metres, GREEN MANNER was shifted out away from the heels of GENKI TWINS after being disappointed for running between that horse and RIYADH which shifted out. In this incident, RIYADH became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by GREEN MANNER. When questioned regarding his riding of HO IN ONE in the early stages, G Mosse stated that he had been instructed to ride the horse in about 5th or 6th position with cover. He said he was asked to ensure that the horse remained racing one horse off the fence to allow it the opportunity to make its run on the outside of horses in the Straight. He said HO IN ONE began well and as he was clear of runners to his inside, he elected to shift across gradually rather than unbalance HO IN ONE and immediately shift that horse across to race outside INVICTUS. He said as he was shifting HO IN ONE across to race closer to the rail, he received a call from the rider of HOME WITH GLORY alerting him that he was not clear of that runner. He said as HOME WITH GLORY had missed the start, he felt that at all stages prior to receiving the call, it was available to him to cross that horse. He said he was caught unaware by the manner in which HOME WITH GLORY was ridden along in the early stages and he was then not able to cross that horse as he would likely have caused significant interference. He added after receiving the call from the rider of HOME WITH GLORY, he was also unable to ride his mount along to cross that horse as SMART BALL was in the process of crossing HO IN ONE and were he to pressure his mount in an endeavour to cross the horse to his inside, this would have placed HO IN ONE very close to the heels of SMART BALL. He said because of these circumstances HO ON ONE was left racing wide in the early stages and was then left racing without cover near the 1000 Metres. G Mosse was severely reprimanded for his riding of HO IN ONE in the early stages and advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he was not decisive in shifting HO IN ONE across to a position closer to the rail in the early stages when it was available for him to do so. He was further advised that this was the second occasion during this racemeeting alone that he had been spoken to in respect of travelling wide and without cover which was of concern to the Stewards. He was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts in such a manner that they are afforded the best possible run in the race and are consequently given every opportunity to finish in the best possible position. A veterinary inspection of HO IN ONE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of MEDALLIST and HOME WITH GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. HO IN ONE, SMART BALL and INVICTUS were sent for sampling. <6/3/2014 Additional Veterinary Report>HOME WITH GLORY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. HOME WITH GLORY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg with a sore left front fetlock. Before being allowed to race again, HOME WITH GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
