After being loaded, LEGEND EXPRESS became fractious and reared and then was taken across behind runners shortly after the start after being bumped by ARCHIPPUS which shifted out. ASCENSION was crowded for room at the start between GOOD DIRECTIONS and GLAMOROUS HONOUR which shifted in abruptly after beginning awkwardly. After being crossed by K-MOOCHI after the 1200 Metres, MEDIC KINGDOM proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. Also after the 1200 Metres, GLAMOROUS HONOUR was left racing wide and without cover. SUPREME PROFIT lost its right hind plate near the 1100 Metres. Near the 700 Metres, ABLE MAGIC, which was laying out, was steadied away from the heels of SUPREME PROFIT. Then passing the 600 Metres, ABLE MAGIC was crowded for room inside SUPREME PROFIT which got its head on the side and lay in momentarily. When questioned, M Chadwick stated that, from barrier 12, he had been instructed to position LUCKY DAY behind the speed if possible. He said after beginning well, he observed a number of horses drawn more favourably than LUCKY DAY being ridden along to obtain forward positions and he felt that he would have had to make too much use of LUCKY DAY to clear those horses in order to be prominently placed. He said therefore he elected to shift across and obtain a position with cover which he was able to do near the 1100 Metres. He added LUCKY DAY travelled only fairly and finished off the race one-paced as it did at its most recent start. A veterinary inspection of LEGEND EXPRESS and SILVER DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ARCHIPPUS and MEDIC KINGDOM were sent for sampling.
