WINNING MASCOT and GOOD LUCK WIN bumped at the start. From wide barriers, ALWAYS SOMETHING and YOUNG TALENT were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, GOOD LUCK WIN failed to muster speed. After the 900 Metres, HOXO got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE BRAVO. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, GOOD LUCK WIN got its head on the side and lay out. Shortly after straightening, WINNING MASCOT was shifted out away from the heels of ALWAYS SOMETHING. In the early part of the Straight, SAFARI MAGIC and HEART WOOD raced tight as HEART WOOD commenced to attempt to shift to the outside of HOME WITH GLORY. Near the 250 Metres, FORTUNE BRAVO, which was laying in, was steadied away from the heels of SAFARI MAGIC which was taken out by HEART WOOD. Approaching the 200 Metres, GOOD LUCK WIN was shifted out when disappointed for running between KICK SERVE and HOXO which was giving ground. A short distance later, REDWOOD BABY and GOOD LUCK WIN bumped due to GOOD LUCK WIN shifting out. After the 150 Metres, REDWOOD BABY and ALWAYS SOMETHING raced tight. Then passing the 100 Metres, ALWAYS SOMETHING was checked when crowded for room inside WINNING MASCOT (S Hamanaka) which, after shifting in, then shifted further after being bumped on the hindquarters by ALWAYS SOMETHING and REDWOOD BABY which shifted out after being bumped by KICK SERVE (M Guyon) which shifted out slightly. As the Stewards were of the opinion that there were a number of circumstances which contributed to this incident, no further action was taken, however, both S Hamanaka and M Guyon were advised to exercise more care. Passing the 50 Metres, KICK SERVE was severely checked when crowded for room between HEART WOOD which, after shifting out away from EXPEDITE, then shifted out further after being bumped on the hindquarters by KICK SERVE and REDWOOD BABY (R Moore) which, when racing greenly, shifted in abruptly. GOOD LUCK WIN, which was following, was hampered in consequence. R Moore was advised whilst the Stewards accepted REDWOOD BABY was racing greenly due to inexperience, nonetheless he must, in similar circumstances, make every endeavour to keep his mounts on a straight course. Near the 100 Metres, M Guyon dropped his left rein. HOME WITH GLORY and WINNING MASCOT were sent for sampling.
