ASHKIYR was withdrawn on raceday afternoon by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (wound to left hock sustained during transit). Before being allowed to race again, ASHKIYR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PRESIDENT LINCOLN was slow to begin. From the outside barriers, LUCKY FOREVER and WITHINMYHEART were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 200 Metres, PRESIDENT LINCOLN and FLYING UNICORN raced tight as PRESIDENT LINCOLN attempted to obtain running between REGENCY KING and FLYING UNICORN. Then over the final 150 Metres, PRESIDENT LINCOLN was crowded for room between REGENCY KING and FLYING UNICORN which was taken in by KING OF REASON. Because of this, PRESIDENT LINCOLN was not able to be properly tested over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance of FLYING UNICORN, C Y Ho stated that after having to be ridden along in the early stages, his mount then travelled well in a forward position. He said when the tempo of the race increased after the 500 Metres, FLYING UNICORN did not quicken as he expected, rather the horse stayed on one-paced. He added whilst FLYING UNICORN gave ground in the Straight, he was not able to properly test the horse due to racing tight outside PRESIDENT LINCOLN over about the final 150 Metres. A veterinary inspection of FLYING UNICORN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. LITTLE DREAMS and CHATER DREAM were sent for sampling.
