ELEGANCE KLAMMER was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, PEPPERMINT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1600 Metres, GREAT RENOWN was briefly crowded for room between HEY MR and KING'S FOLKS which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KING'S FOLKS (O Doleuze) shifted in and bumped AMAZINGLY. O Doleuze was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Near the 1000 Metres, AXIOM was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 900 Metres, UWILLBEGLORIOUS raced tight between PEPPERMINT and KING'S FOLKS which shifted in momentarily. For some distance after the 800 Metres, ENABLING was taken back through the field by HEY MR which was unable to hold its position. Passing the 400 Metres, PEPPERMINT and ELEGANCE KLAMMER raced tight inside HEY MR which was giving ground. Passing the 150 Metres, ELEGANCE KLAMMER was directed in away from the heels of POLYMER WIN to continue improving. K C Leung (UWILLBEGLORIOUS) was spoken to regarding him raising his whip arm above the height of his shoulder. When questioned, K Teetan (ELEGANCE KLAMMER) stated that after the 1400 Metres he commenced to ride his mount along to consolidate his position inside AMAZINGLY and behind MEGA CHAMPION. He said he rode ELEGANCE KLAMMER along for some distance and after momentarily racing tight inside AMAZINGLY passing the 1300 Metres again commenced to ride his mount along in an attempt to prevent AMAZINGLY from shifting in. He said however that ELEGANCE KLAMMER did not improve its position sufficiently to maintain its position to the inside of AMAZINGLY and rather than continue to ride his mount along, he elected not to pursue the run to the inside of AMAZINGLY which crossed to race on the rail passing the 1100 Metres. POLYMER WIN, AMAZINGLY and KING'S FOLKS were sent for sampling.
