After being loaded, POETIC JUSTICE became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, POETIC JUSTICE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. TRAVEL BRAND was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, POETIC JUSTICE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When racing wide after the 1600 Metres, KING OF SCOTS was steadied and taken across behind runners to obtain a position with cover closer to the rail. SCARLET CAMELLIA made the turn approaching the 800 Metres awkwardly. Rounding the Home Turn, CHATER DREAM and SCARLET CAMELLIA raced tight as CHATER DREAM shifted out to obtain clear running. Approaching the 250 Metres, AUTUMN GOLD was steadied when crowded for room between TRAVEL BRAND which shifted out and ENDOWING (B Prebble) which got its head on the side and hung in despite the efforts of its rider. Then over the concluding stages, ENDOWING continued to hang in and proved very difficult to ride and close to the line raced tight outside SCARLET CAMELLIA. Because of the manner in which ENDOWING was hanging in, the horse was unable to be properly ridden out. For the majority of the race, WEALTHY FORTUNE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of POETIC JUSTICE, G Mossé stated that the horse became very fractious in the barriers which is unusual for the horse. He said POETIC JUSTICE obtained a position at the rear of the field with cover, however, when asked for an effort in the Straight was disappointing in that it did not quicken at any stage. A veterinary inspection of POETIC JUSTICE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, Apprentice C Y Lui (LUCKY FOREVER) said the horse became stirred up behind the barriers and then after beginning awkwardly did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY FOREVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT CHEERS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TRAVEL BRAND had lost its right front plate. POETIC JUSTICE, BLAZING SPEED and TRAVEL BRAND were sent for sampling.
