From wide barriers, GOOD FELLOW, AGIAAL and MEDALLIST were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 1200 Metres, FORGIVE AND FORGET was left racing wide and without cover. Near the 1100 Metres, FLYING CHAPARRAL got its head up when proving difficult to settle. For some distance approaching and passing the 900 Metres, FORGIVE AND FORGET proved difficult to settle. Shortly after entering the Straight, FLYING CHAPARRAL was bumped by MEGA CHAMPION which shifted out. Then near the 250 Metres, FLYING CHAPARRAL, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between MEGA CHAMPION and FORGIVE AND FORGET (W M Lai) which shifted in. W M Lai was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future. AGIAAL was not able to obtain clear running over the final 250 Metres and because of this was not able to be properly tested. After the 200 Metres, MEDALLIST was shifted to the outside of WITHINMYHEART when disappointed for running between that horse which shifted in under pressure and FORGIVE AND FORGET. A veterinary inspection of FLYING CHAPARRAL and MEGA CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings. FORGIVE AND FORGET, MIGHTY K and WITHINMYHEART were sent for sampling.
