GOAL AND GOLD began awkwardly. NAUGHTY BABY was slow to begin. HEARTS KEEPER was crowded for room at the start between EXPEDITE and FIERY WHISPERER which shifted out. In this incident, EXPEDITE became unbalanced after making contact with HEARTS KEEPER. FISHKING EMPEROR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 100 Metres, the whip of W Pike (MIZZEN GREY) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of T Angland (GOAL AND GOLD). After the race, it was noted that WILD FORCE had blood at its left nostril. The Veterinary Officer said an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse to have bled. FIERY WHISPERER and EXPEDITE were sent for sampling.
