GOOD STRIKE knuckled over at the start. Shortly after the start, ZACHARY was checked when crowded for room between GOOD STRIKE and ABSOLUTE FANTASY which, after initially being taken out by MASTER KEY, then shifted out of its own accord. In this incident, ZACHARY dipped. Near the 1200 Metres, YOU KNOW I WIN shifted out abruptly when proving difficult to control, resulting in its rider, B Prebble, becoming unbalanced. When YOU KNOW I WIN shifted out, ALWAYS SOMETHING was crowded for room between that horse and LOMBARDI. After the 900 Metres, LOMBARDI was left racing wide and without cover. After the 800 Metres, SUNNY FAY was left racing wide and without cover. After the 700 Metres, MASTER KEY commenced to prove difficult to settle, got its head on the side and shifted out away from the heels of SMART GUY despite the efforts of its rider. At the entrance to the Straight, REAL SPECIALIST and LOMBARDI bumped as REAL SPECIALIST shifted out to obtain clear running. VIVA FREEDOM had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. WAH MAY STAR was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then approaching the 300 Metres raced in restricted room between SUNNY FAY and REAL SPECIALIST which shifted in. RACING HERO was not able to obtain clear running until after the 100 Metres. T Angland, the rider of the 8th placed, RACING HERO, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out right to the end of the race at least hands and heels wherever circumstances permit. WAH MAY STAR and REAL SPECIALIST were sent for sampling.
