KYARA was withdrawn on 16.12.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ADORATION (M Guyon). Before being allowed to race again, KYARA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ELITE OF CHIU TON and TAVERNER, which were slow to begin, were both hampered when crowded for room shortly after the start between GLORIOUS DAYS and TOPPING LIGHT which shifted out on jumping. HELENE WITTY was checked when crowded for room at the start between ADORATION and MIGHTY SUN which was taken out by ABSOLUTE HEDGE. Because of this, HELENE WITTY raced further back in the field than is usual. From a wide barrier, KING AL AKBAR was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being steadied in the early stages to obtain cover, NEW VISION got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle. In the early and middle stages, CHINA POWER proved difficult to settle. Passing the 400 Metres, NEW VISION was bumped on a number of occasions by TAVERNER (Apprentice K C Ng) which shifted out to obtain clear running. Apprentice Ng was reprimanded and advised that whilst he has an obligation to ride competitively, he must not do so at the detrimental of other runners. Shortly after entering into the Straight, IMPERIAL ROME was steadied when disappointed for running between ABSOLUTE HEDGE and TOPPING LIGHT. TOPPING LIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 100 Metres, NEW DEERFIELD was steadied when crowded for room between HELENE WITTY and TAVERNER which shifted out. Apprentice Ng was reminded of his obligation to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances. Throughout the race, MIGHTY SUN travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (HELENE WITTY) was placed on notice regarding hitting his mount forward of the saddle with his whip in the forehand manner in the Straight and advised that any repetition may result in him being penalized. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ADORATION had sustained minor cuts to the left hind pastern. GLORIOUS DAYS and NEW VISION were sent for sampling.
