FAST INTENTIONS was withdrawn on 22.11.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter YOUNG SUPREME (K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, FAST INTENTIONS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. YOUNG SUPREME was crowded for room at the start between MERRY TOWKAY and GRACYTOM, both of which shifted ground. After this, YOUNG SUPREME was taken across behind runners. When being steadied near the 900 Metres to obtain cover, BINGO BINGO got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance. Passing the 650 Metres, VICTORY GENERAL was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between MOUNT SURPLUS and MERRY TOWKAY which shifted in away from the heels of FAIRY DRAGON. After the 600 Metres, VICTORY GENERAL got its head on the side and lay out. Rounding the Home Turn, JOYFUL JOYFUL got its head on the side and shifted out and then in the early part of the Straight was shifted out away from the heels of BINGO BINGO. After the 200 Metres, RACING LEGEND shifted out and bumped BINGO BINGO, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. YOUNG SUPREME, which was following, was steadied out away from the heels of BINGO BINGO in consequence. After this, RACING LEGEND was shifted out around the heels of FAIRY DRAGON which itself was shifting ground, resulting in BINGO BINGO being carried out. YOUNG SUPREME, which was positioned to the outside of the heels of BINGO BINGO, was hampered in consequence and over the concluding stages was not able to be ridden out when racing behind BINGO BINGO and VICTORY GENERAL. Throughout the race, MERRY TOWKAY travelled wide and without cover. After the race, M Chadwick (GOLD JOINT) reported that his mount hung out throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of GOLD JOINT after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, GOLD JOINT will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of MOUNT SURPLUS after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MOUNT SURPLUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLD JOINT, GOOD SMILE and RACING LEGEND were sent for sampling.
