THE PRINCE jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with PERFECT FIT and as a consequence lost ground. CLASSIC AWARDS was slow to begin. Over the final 50 Metres, POCKET ROCKETS and PERFECT FIT were held up and unable to be tested. When questioned, C W Wong advised that he was instructed to ride JUN QI in a prominent position if the horse began well. He said however that after jumping a little awkwardly, he was obliged to steady JUN QI a short distance after the start when POCKET ROCKETS shifted in. He said that after this JUN QI came off the bit and he was obliged to push the horse along approaching the 600 Metres to make some ground. He said that passing the 400 Metres he shifted to the inside of the heels of DIAMOND KNIGHT, hoping to find room to advance his position, however, when he was unable to do so he switched JUN QI out across the heels of DIAMOND KNIGHT after the 300 Metres in order to make ground hard up against the outside fence. He added that after making ground approaching the 100 Metres, he was obliged to steady JUN QI away from the heels of DANE PATROL as that horse commenced to give ground and shift back in. He said that over the final 50 Metres he was able to take advantage of a run to the outside of DIAMOND KNIGHT where upon JUN QI closed off the race well. C W Wong was advised that the Stewards would note his explanation, however, he was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts right to the finishing line where circumstances permit. A veterinary inspection of BLUE CAVIAR after the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination also showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, BLUE CAVIAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BLUE CAVIAR, XI YING MEN and SHARE OF GOLD were sent for sampling. <3/10/2011 Additional Veterinary Report>BLUE CAVIAR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination also showed a substantial amount of blood in its trachea. BLUE CAVIAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be mildly lame in its right front leg. As previously advised, BLUE CAVIAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
